Deep within a dense wilderness area composed almost entirely of petrified Trents, Helios was stuck right smack in the middle of a hoard of the demonic stone trees.
These guys hides are tough...
Jumping over a lunging stab, he landed on the tree monsters arm an slid along it, kicking it in the face.
BZZT!!!
An explosion of sparks erupted as he collided with the monsters protective magic.
Nope, that's still not right...
Ducking under a lashing root, he swung up on it an kicked off, launching himself at a different tree.
BbzzzzzzzzT!
A knife hand slash across it's front resulted in another spark shower.
Hmm...I gotta rethink this a bit.
He was ordered to build a cabin out of these trees, but to do that he needed to do something about their annoying natural defenses. He couldn't degrade their defense like usual, since it regenerated too fast. Brute force didn't work either.
Sheesh, I'm running into WAY too much complicated stuff these days. This is why I don't fight people if I can avoid it...
Oh well. Just meant it was time for him to get more complicated too.

Helios soon found an answer to the problem.
CRACCCCK!!!
His first training session with his Creed boss lady gave him the idea. An his fight with that Frog lady had reinforced the fact.
CRACK SLICE CRACK
He'd been going about things the wrong way. His power wasn't about brute force. It was about infiltration.
I spent too much time fighting magical monsters an forgot...
Match the enemies flow. Harmonize with the opponents power, sync his own to it, an....
SLIIICE
A knife hand strike cut clean through the trees body, completely bypassing both its defensive field and the trees natural hardness like they didn't exist
There we go. I don;t break down an opponents defense. I simply ignore them.
He took out his yoyos, grinning at the other petrified tree monsters.
Now that I'm back on track, lets wrap this up. Maria's gonna give me hell if I keep her waiting much longer.
With a flick of his wrist he wrapped the yoyo's around a pair of trees an pulled. The titanium wires sliced through them like they were made of butter.

Re:Familiar Boot Camp.

| | | | Helena was in a different area of the forest, running from a pack of squirrel-size wolves with a bite strong enough to bite off a chunk of flesh and bone without trying. She was unfortunate enough to know that very well at this point. The only reason she was even alive was due to a regeneration rune placed on her by Maria, that used Helena's own mana to support it, so it was stronger than it should be. But that did nothing for the pain of losing the pieces in the first place. She wasn't fast enough to completely outrun them and her gravity magic wasn't accurate enough to catch any of them. And ever time she tried she lost at least one part of herself. She felt herself getting too exhausted to run. In her head, shelled in fear was the thought of the rune not being able to save her, if they actually bit off the rune on her back. So if they caught her, there wouldn't be anything to regenerate. The fear began to weigh her down and cause her to get exhausted even faster. She began thinking that this would be the end of her. Her eyes began to blur as she began shedding tears while running. This only excited the monster pack even more. As they tried harder, being fueled by her despair and fear. Thinking this would be her end, she recalled fond memories of her brothers and mumbled an apology for not being able to protect them. She began sobbing loudly as she dropped to the ground and one of the wolves bit a small chunk out the back of her neck. It was where she held a scar from years earlier. The pain she felt on that one spot was actually a familiar feeling. Though it regenerated almost instantly, the pain didn't go away. It was a pain she had forced herself to bury deep in her head. The pain of that scar was now, once again unforgettable. It reminded her immediately of the pain and suffering she and her brothers went through, while enslaved to the Sei family of Psi-City. The torture and unforgettable anguish used to push them all to the peak of their potential. The potential crafted within their every cell by the same people who would force them into a living hell. All of that came back to her the instant she got bit on the back of the neck. The pack of wolves halted their attacking. Not because they felt any different, but because they couldn't move. The bones in their feet shattered, followed by their legs, and soon the rest of them as they were smashed into the ground by an insane amount of gravity. Everything within a radius of a few dozen feet were made paper thin by the gravity. She stood up and took a step forward, and the gravity radius seemed to keep her centered, smashing everything within the same area. Being out in a clearing actually made it easier for larger creatures to spot her though. Particularly a massive T-Rex like monster who seemed to be too strong for even gravity to mash him into the ground. When it made a lunge at Helena, the gravity returned to normal, resulting in the monster jumping high into the air my accident. Helena turned around and looked up at the monster, displaying a terrifying grin many thought she was incapable of. She held a single hand up at the monster as it was falling back towards the ground. She did a basic fire spell that released a massive inferno wave engulfing the monster and covered the entire forest under a terrifying red glow from her ongoing wave of fire. She had shifted t the savage soldier she was made to be within Psi-City. A mindless killing machine void of reason while without the control of a psychic master. | |

Things were getting dangerous. After the death of the first few trees, the entire forest went into a berserker frenzy. Screeching roars grated on his ears while thousands of roots and branches lashed at him nonstop from everywhere, even the ground. He literally couldn't stop moving for even a fraction of a second. If one of those roots so much as grazed him, he'd turn to stone.
!!!!!
He grit his teeth, fighting against the pounding in his head as his danger senses went into overload. The wooden horrors weren't letting up for an instant. For every one he cut down, dozens more descended on him. He could already feel the strain constant split second dodges were putting on his body. There was no time to think. Barely even any to react.
!!!!!
A branch slash past his face, so close he felt the wind from its passing. He'd just barely avoided that one. These freaky stone tree things were getting faster. With each one he killed their fury grew. An he had to cut down this whole grove of them? This was crazy. What she thinking dumping him in a death trap like this? He was so tired. A nap would be great now. Maybe he could just sleep forever. That sounded nice....

The weird girl standing on his shoulders snapped his mind back into focus.
Umm.....mine are purple. Wait, why are you even asking tha...ack!
He'd looked up, an immediately looked back down, race burning red. That wasn't something he'd expected to see till he was older.
Uum...look! It's really dangerous here...hold that thought!
He stepped the side, dodging a spearing branch. Then danced and weaved through several dozen more.
*Shoot, no time for napping now. Gotta get her out of here!*
His mind crystal clear an focused, Helios cut his way through the monster hoard, his only thought keeping his passenger safe. However...
*Did she just say surfs up*
He wondered, thinking he must of heard wrong. But a quick glance up showed that sure enough, she was pretending to ride a surf board.
......
Here he was, fighting for his life, an some weird girl just drops in an takes him for a joy ride. The complete absurdity made him laugh, all the tension draining right out of him. He'd let these wood heads get him way too worked up.
Hey! Whatever your name is! Try not to lose your undies, because this ride is about to hit turbo mode!
Dropping his evasive tactics, Helios plowed straight into the mass of monsters, going through them like a buzz-saw. The trees tried to swarm him, but he was already gone, heading for his next target.
*Some hours later*
Heios stood in the middle of a clearing, taking slow deep breaths. For as far as he could see in every direction the ground was covered in the chopped up remains of tree monsters. If it wasn't for the fact that they were made of wood, it would look like the site of a large scale massacre.
Enjoy your ride Ms Sonata?
He'd gotten her name sometime during the whole ordeal. Somehow she'd managed to stay on him the whole time, standing on his shoulders and his head, pretending she was riding skate boards and stuff. It made the whole thing several times harder.. She was definitely a lot heavier than Maria.

| Helios blinked at her curiously while trying in vain to fix his hair. It was sticking up all over the place even worse than usual.
Really? You mean like a real wish an stuff? Huh...
He tapped his foot, thinking. What could he possibly want? There really wasn't...wait.
I got it!
He smiled, having the perfect idea!
Okay, listen. Ms Maria put this spell on me that makes me turn into furniture when I'm sleeping anywhere near her. She hates useless stuff, see. Is there any way you can alter it that would be useful to her and Ms. Sam?
Helios spent a lot of time as a coffee table or work bench when working for his witch boss. It was super annoying, especially when potions spilled on him. Hopefully Sonata could think of some way to improve it that both his bosses would like. |

| Helios rolled his eyes. He should've known she was just playing with him.
Uh huh. Anyway,I guess now I gotta build a house.
Groaning, he folded his hands behind his head.
I don't wanna. But.........
He could already feel that overbearing sensation in the back of his mind, forcefully urging him to do what he was told an build Maria a home. An not just any home. There was a reason he'd needed such a huge amount of wood.
He had to build a large house in the center of the area formerly occupied by the monster tree forest, a workshop, a storage garage, and a sturdy wall completely surrounding the entire area. An he had to do it all by himself. With nothing but his own skills. Child Labor Abuse didn't even begin to describe it.
Whatcha doin in this hellhole anyway?
He asked while slicing dead monsters down into planks. He'd do the frame of the house first. Building a big wall around an entire forest was going to take forever. |

| | | | Helena showed up as they were talking, pulling behind her a huge floating net filled with the strange wolf things she had issues with earlier. She was puzzled as to why all of them were dead, most of them flattened, some burnt and others just mysteriously dead.
Helena: I wasn't sure if we would need them or not, but I guess we can make clothes or something. Kinda sad seeing them like this. But their bites are so painful, I don't feel too bad. They would have eaten me alive if not for.... Huh... what did happen to them.... Hey, who's she?

| Helios gave Sonata a strange look, then shrugged.
Well whatever. Since your here, you can train with us.
He stretched, feeling strangely awake despite being tired. She couldn't really have.....nah! no way!
Woah, looks like a bag of road kill. You sure you didn't smush them?
He whistled, looking over the net. Most of the hides weren't in bad shape. An they'd be pretty easy to skin now...
This is Sonata. She kinda "dropped in" on the middle of my forest clearing work. Sonata, this is Helena, my fellow familiar. We're here with boss #1, AKA: The Wicked Witch of Lolicon. Our job right now is to toughen up or literally die trying. I think I've gotten a good bit of experience with the nearly dying thing since coming here.
A little too much. With his danger senses overloaded, his physical and mental reaction speed were pushed to the limit to compensate. It was giving him a huge headache. |

Helios flopped on the ground, laying on his back.
This is totally a pain....
He was strongly tempted to just lay there staring into space for the rest of the day.
You guys go ahead an train for a bit....
He stared up at a cloud, determined to find a new way to escape the world now that both dreams and sleep had been stolen from him. No way life was going to beat him that easily. There was always a way to avoid unneeded effort, an he was a master of finding them. Right, he ad just the thing. Helios had picked up a meditation technique years ago because a empty mind sound much better than the hassle of always thinking about stuff.
..........................
His eyes soon went blank as he became completely lost in a deep meditative trance. |

Helios sat still an let himself be examined, half hoping he did have a fever. Not likely, since he'd never been sick before. No foreign organism could survive in his negativity soaked body.
Your right, movings a total pain. But I don't get sleepy anymore cause of that purple girl. An when I lay around awake, somethin keeps nagging me to get up an work. Mediating helps, but....working to relax is a total no go.
Using meditation to make the familiars bond shut up took constant effort, which kinda defeated the whole purpose. |

Nah, that's okay.
Standing up. he dusted himself off.
Why don't we go look for some food? Probably should before it gets dark.
Helios hadn't gotten that extreme of a reaction from something in a long time. It made him curious about what the problem was... |

Uumm....we don't really got much here. Unless you wanna eat steel hard tree bark or gravity pressed roadkill. I guess the roadkills edible.....if you can find any meat. She squashed them pretty good.
He shrugged.
That sounds like a huge hassle,so i'm just gonna hunt something. Maybe I'll get lucky an get attacked by a giant or something. That would be enough meat for maybe a few weeks.
Most people wouldn't consider that lucky at all. But Helios would much rather have a death match with a super tough monster one time, than have to keep hunting normal animals over and over. |
