Maria sat at her table in her room, holding her staff that was sending a highly irritating beacon to her familiars to get back.

"What's the point of having them if I have to go through all this trouble to get any help. Worthless children."

Maria was waving her finger, making the house clean itself.

Helios kicked open the door and trudged in, carrying Helena on his back. The floorboards creaked with every foot step.

Would you lose some weight already? 

He was carrying Helena since she was tired from their new job at Creed Corp. After getting spooked by the summon call, she'd gotten ten times heavier.

Helena: Hey! That's so mean! I can't help it! When I get scared I naturally increase gravity around me. So it's not like I gained any weight. And I never asked you to carry me either. You just volunteered. I was gonna try and catch a cab or a bus.

She continued to pout. Her being upset actually made her weightless

Maria looked at them annoyed.

"You bent up the floor boards. Go out and chop down some trees. And only the screaming trees will do. They fight back so don't die. If you get bit you get petrified and then eaten. It's a pain in the ass to fix petrification. The wood from those trees can be enchanted to be as hard as diamond. So they won't be so noisy when you bring the fat girl home."

Maria said that just because it would upset her, that was her punishment. She didn't insult Helios because she knew he would have to do all the fighting. That was his punishment.

Helios set Helena down an stretched, his spine popping. Carrying half a ton on his back was not fun.

No way in heck. What do you think woulda happened if we were on a bus or cab when we got summoned?

Just thinking about that disaster made his head hurt. Their new boss would wring their necks.

So your just gonna have to get used to me being your taxi service. Now lets go beat up some trees. Then we gotta fix the floor, clean the house, do the laundry, make sure Ms. Maria's magic supplies are stocked, maybe be a practice dummy for her new spells, make dinner.....

Putting his hands behind his head, he lead the newbie slav...familiar, off to their next job. Being so busy was bothersome, but at least he had someone to talk to now.

Helena followed him, very upset about all the stuff that sounded painful.

She was actually helping against her will, and didn't even realize it.

Helios stopped near a particularly disturbing looking tree.

"Cause we're worthless brats who should be happy our absolutely pointless and worthless excuses for lives have any use in this world at all."  So she said.

He recited.

This guy who got summoned awhile after me asked. He wasn't here long. Got eaten by a random monster.

Picking up a rock, he chucked it at the tree. The tree let out a horrific scream an began to move, tearing out the ground, branches grabbing and roots lashing. Helios jumped back to avoid a root that tried to snag his leg. 

Yep,that's the one.

The trees trunk split open into a jagged maw.

Remember. We gotta make it into planks, so no blunt force attacks.  We'll have to either chop it down or split it in half. An watch out for its petrifying poison. Here it comes. Get ready!!

The tree whipped at them with a large root, which he sliced off with a knife edge kick. Screaming in anger, the trent uprooted itself an came shambling towards them, roots lashing about everywhere. Some even coming up from the ground for a sneak grab.

Helena wanted to be brave and help. But what she saw was just too terrifying. It was something straight out of a  nightmare.

Helena: I can't do this!!

She tried running but the tree grabbed her ankle and tossed her high into the air. It opened it's jagged maw to eat her when she came back down. But what it didn't expect was for her to not come back down. She was flying up even higher than it thought she would. Moments after it gave up on her, she fell at ridiculous speed into the tree. She hit it so hard it exploded. as did most of the area around her impact zone. She landed like a meteor where she was lying face down in a crater

Knowing what was coming, Helios quickly dashed off an hid behind a normal tree about 50 yards away. When things quieted down after the impact he went back.

Geeze....

sitting on the edge of the crater, he looked down at the girl laying sprawled in it.

I think...it might be best if you leave this kinda work to me.

If the tree monster scared her that bad, the other creatures were going to give her a heart attack.

Helios finished the job himself after finding another monster tree.

While dragging the wood and carrying Helena back to the cabin he kept getting a really bad vibe. Something super dangerous was getting closer. 

Yo! Grump boss!!!

He yelled out, kicking the front door open.

I think we should leave for a while. Like, right now. Somethin really really scary is comin.

Helios had never felt a sense of impending doom this bad before. It felt like his every nerve was being electrified. The familiar bond was the only thing keeping him from running off as far an fast as he could.

Maria slapped him on the head.

"I'll be damned if i'm gonna just up and run away from anything. You don't go and abandon your home. It's probably just some idiot looking for another idiot. They come and go. And if they don't go, well, I find a use for them."

Maria made many forbidden potions out of idiots who thought it was a good idea to try and rob or attack her.

Knowing exactly how Maria tended to speak to people, Helios snuck up behind her an gave her a chop to the neck.

I'm SO gonna get it for that later.

He sighed, catching his unconscious boss as she fell.

Sorry about that. She's just really really bad at dealing with people.

He apologized to Twotania, while laying Maria down on the bed.

Can I get you anything? Maybe some tea?

Helios offered her a chair. Since it was too late to get away, he'd try behaving the way she wanted. From the few words she'd said so far he got that she was a high class lady who was used to standing above people.

Twontinia looked down at Helena. She was irate with gazing upon the world. But seeing Helena actually surprised her. Her face was so unrealistically cute that she scaled back on her anger considerably.

Helios sat down, ignoring the alarm bells ringing in his head that insisted he remove himself from danger.

So...she's like your sister? That's cool. I've got a really pretty older sister, too. Annnn...those eyes are way too nice to hide like that. The blindfolds pretty neat, but I bet you'd look way better without it.

Helios complimented after seeing Twotania's uncovered eye.

Helios plopped down on the floor, the aura pulling him down into a deep sleep.

YAAAWNNN....zzzzzzzzz

As his consciousness faded, pure negativity began to leak from him. It grew thicker and more intense by the second. 

Soon it began infecting and corrupting the Dream with pure, absolute evil, plunging every Dreamer into horrific nightmares. 

Something buried in the core of his soul stared at Twotania with absolute Hatred and Malice.

I don't want your dreams...I hate you. I hate you all. For what you did....

The mystery entity whispered before sinking back into the depths, it's influence fading away. Helios fell into a normal sleep. The Dreamers were back to their happy dreams. But they would remember.

The disgusting side of these filthy pests has tainted my vision yet again. And Not just that, but my beautiful dream.

She pulled a sword from her back and broke it in her hands. It turned to dust and drifted away. Every dreamer was released from the dream. And now she had to start over again.She walked over to the boy and stood over him. She pulled her other sword and placed the blade against his head.

For your insolence. You will never dream again.

She branded him, to never be allowed to ever dream again. And thus he could never again corrupt the dream. But now she had work to do. She put Helena over her shoulder and walked out through a white portal.

Finally. Forgot how much it sucked doing everything myself.

Helena was his first partner familiar to not go an die on him, an now she got taken away by her scary big god sister.

She totally screwed up all the time, but...

He smiled.

it was really nice having her around....

Something I'm gonna like a whole lot less than turning into furniture when I'm asleep.

That spell felt extremely unpleasant, but his familiar bond made sure he stayed put an took it.

Maria sat down at her table and started rubbing her neck. Moments later, Helios started to feel itchy all over. And as time passed it would get worse. and scratching only made him even more itchy.
